Valentine's Day Bulletin Board and a Freebie!

I am FINALLY able to say that my team and I put up our grade level bulletin board early!! What a great feeling! We got our kiddos to write about their favorite book and 3 reasons why! They really rocked it! Then, our team got together and busted out this awesome bulletin board that I just had to share!!

Click on the picture or here to grab yours!

I printed the hearts on different colored paper so it made the bulletin board stand out! You could also use this as a writing about a friend, too! I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by!

Calendars and Labels: A Start to My Classroom Organization Tour!

Organization could probably be my middle name. I like to organize things that are organized. I thought it would be fun to share some of my classroom organization and teaching organization! This post is mainly about calendars and labels, but stay tuned because the rest will be coming soon! :)

Calendars...who doesn't love calendars? I use these in my personal lesson plan binder but you can also use them for student calendars as well!

Although this doesn't necessarily pertain to organization, I also have reading log calendars that I send home monthly with my students. This helps students stay organized and track their at home reading!

Of course, the only way I'm able to stay sane with all of the million supplies us teachers have is LABELS! I LOVE labels...it goes with the territory of being super organized, but when I say I love labels....I mean I'm OBSESSED. I wish I could take pictures in my classroom now to show how many more labels I've put up, but I promise I will get to that as soon as school starts back up!

In addition to supply labels, I have number and letter labels. These chevron numbers and letters are great for classroom labeling, math tub labeling, student tables, and MORE!

and now of course, there are many things that you probably just want to label yourselves, so I made a blank EDITABLE labels pack!

and of course I always have to throw in a fun FREEBIE! Here are some FREE black and white editable labels!

Thanks for checking out this post! Stay posted for the other awesome organization posts!

Sprout House and Bean Observation Journal

On Earth Day, we had a "Planting Day and Jack and the Beanstalk Day". It was a blast! Each kid brought in a plant and on this day we were gardeners and made our very own garden!

The kids had SO much fun with this that we continued to do our planting over the next couple of weeks. We made grassheads (which were SO fun!).

We also planted a bean (just like Jack did!) in our very own "sprout houses".

It was so fun watching the beans transform! The kids used an observation journal to record the changes that they observed.

You can grab this freebie in my TpT store if you would like to try it out for yourself! I can guarantee that your kids will have a blast! Click on the picture :)

This week we have done insects and they have had a blast!

We read "Hey, Little Ant" by Phillip and Hannah Hoose

We also did adorable little thumbprint ants!

Tomorrow we are going to read the "Grouchy Ladybug" by Eric Carle.

Winter Writing and Story FREEBIE!

Happy day after Christmas! I hope that everyone got what they wanted and are finally relaxing!! (Which is something I should probably do too!) But, I've officially decided that this is the time catch up on EVERYTHING that is on my to-do list!

Which means, time to prepare for all of our fun winter stuff!!

I created this winter writing packet:

How many words can you make with the word: winter
How many words can you make with the word: snowman
How many words can you make with the word: snowball
How many words can you make with the word: hot chocolate
How many words can you make with the word: mittens
My Little Snowman (create a snowman) (2 different versions)
Winter Word Picture Cards
Write the room record sheet
All About My Snowman Fill in the blank
Senses Writing: In the winter, I (see, hear, smell, taste, feel)
How to build the perfect snowman:
Blank Paper
First, Next, Last
First, Next, Last (with pictures).
Winter Mad Libs! Fill in the parts of speech and then fill in the blanks for a funny story!
I have provided two options for each of the following writing prompts (large lines and smaller lines)
“All About My Snowman”
“You built a snowman and all of a sudden it grows legs, what happens next?”
“A penguin escaped from the zoo and is now in your classroom. Write a story about what happens”
“If I were a snowflake”
“In the winter, I see…” (with blank picture space)
“I wish it snowed...” (with blank picture space)
“When it’s cold outside I like to...”
“My favorite part of winter"

But I wanted to give ya'll a little freebie to start off your new year right! We did this with Christmas stories before winter break and the kids LOVED it! We then broke up into two groups and made up our stories and then shared them. They were amazed at how different a story is with just a few different words!! I hope your kiddos enjoy it as much as mine did!
